Buddhists, for example have shown strong resistance to media cultural imperialism through media. At issue however, there has been the escalation of blatant violation of democratic principles in the naked eyes of the media! The family, community and the national in general must combine their efforts to overcome the problem.
The consequences of gender inequality do not affect women only but the whole community. Women are our mothers and family supporters; hence denying opportunities is the same as destructing development in a community.
In other words, when can we say that now the process of mass communication is really working well? To answer the question, we should look at the roles played by mass communication in a certain society.
These roles are the ones we call functions; and when they are performed, then we say the mass communication is functioning. Those are surveillance, interpretation, linkage, transmission of values and entertainment.
And by agreeing or disagreeing with our leaders, we show that the political system can accept differing points of view and can resolve them.
To the other end, by not voting, we break the connection between individual Tanzanians and their community.
Kept informed that voting helps to safeguard our freedoms. A democratic community can only survive if its citizens see participation in the political process as a duty and are responsibility.
